  Vintage Team Race
    Reported by John Nolan

The final racing day on the KMFC calendar was the vintage team race day on November 22nd -- hottest November day for 27 years. It was well over the old century mark, and took its toll on competitors.

Vintage 1/2 A was run in the morning cool at only 35 celsius.
Rothwell/Nolan won from Ardill/Fairall and Blake/Chilton.

First division of Vintage A had only two starters, and neither finished.
Justic/Kerr broke a line, and Rothwell/Hines developed a bad leak in their fuel system.

Second division fared better with two finishers.
Ardill/Fairall won it a few seconds ahead of Nolan/Rothwell.
Bolliger/Goodwin were third (DNF), and Blake/Chilton fourth.

Vintage B was a bit messy.  It was over the century mark by now, and people were not functioning at their peak.  Plus none of the teams had flown this event for quite a while, and some not at all.
Blake/Chilton lost their model in a heat after a mid-air collision.
Bolliger/Goodwin had the obligatory fire and didn't start the final.
That left Ardill/Fairall and Nolan/Rothwell to fight it out.
Neither could get a good engine tune in the heat, and by mutual agreement they called it a draw half way through.

Despite all this Vintage B was the star attraction of the day and should be huge next year.
Thank you to everyone who competed or helped through the year.

The racing program was outstanding any way you look at it -- performance, improvement, fun, camaraderie.
See you all next year.
