Dear KMFC members.

As we all know, our club enjoys an excellent track record of safety. Indeed in the last 12 months no serious accidents were reported, as mentioned in the last AGM. In order to maintain this standard, it has been suggested that it would be helpful to re-visit a few basic rules that need to be observed, in order to keep our club functioning safely and for the enjoyment of everyone.

  1. Maximum line length is 52’6’’ for the Gordon Burford circle and 70’6’’ for the Alan Garland and Bob Palmer circles.

  2. Handles will not have the control lines passing through them, but will have a separate and heavy duty wire, not coated, so that it can be checked for fraying.

  3. Line connectors will be of a type specifically designed for control line flying, and not, for example, fishing swivels. They will be of a size and strength suited to the weight and power of the model.

  4. Equipment may be subject to pull tests in cases of doubt.

  5. As a general rule, cord tethers connecting the pilot’s wrist and the control handle will be used. The tether should be self-tightening on the wrist.

  6. Models with engine capacity above .049 cu in capacity shall only be flown on steel control cables.

  7. Mufflers will generally be used on engines of capacity greater than 2.5cc.

  8. Alcohol will not be consumed by anyone at the club until after the cessation of all flying for the day, non-members included.
